MSU experience

1. A- there are many types galaxies including spiral eliptical aand peculuar.
B-galaxies sometimes colide and strip stars off of each other.
C- the milkyway is a spiral galaxy
D- you can see jupiter from earth.
E- the zodiac constalations move across the sky in a line
2. A- they use beryillium foil to catch the nuclei
B- the cyclotron spins the atoms at half the speed of light
C- MSU ran an expiriment to prove that Mg40 exists
3. the rolercoaster thing at the planetarium and seeing the cyclotron
4. have the wheather be warm and not rainy.

great lakes in regional context

1. the biggest lake in terms of volume is Superior at 2.934C.U. miles and the smallest is Erie at 116C.U. miles
2. the most urban lake is Erie and the most rural is superior.
3. lake Huron has the longest shorline 3,818 miles.
4.we can best manage the ecosystem by watching what we dump into the lakes and what we do with them.
5.two types of pollutants that pretain to my project are petroleum products such as gasoline and oil that come from cars, oil refineries, and streets that can get into the water and kill plant and animal life living in that water. this pretains to our project because if hydrogen is used as a fuel source it gives off clean emissions that will not harm the water. another pollutant is inorganic chemicals that can come from mining and manufacturing and oil field operations this pretains to my project because the chemicals that come from the oil and mining industries will not be there if hydrogen replaces oil and coal.
6a. the watr i use from my house goes into the septic field and then disipates into the ground
6b.runoff water is water that sits on top of saturated ground and runs into places such as rivers, lakes, creeks, streams, or into the ground water and water table.
6c. runoff water and sewagre water do go to the same place and should because they both contain pollutants and need to be cleaned.
6d. some sources of pollution in runoff water are litter, feertilizers, pesticides, cars, paint, and corroded metals.
6e. the difference between point and non-point source pollution are point source comes from localized easily identifiable sources and non-point does not.
6f. a watershed is a region or area drained by a river, stream, etc.

river lab conclusion

on the river i learned that the dissolved oxygen levels are a little high but not bad and that this is probably due to the fact that the river is a moving body of water and and there is alot of clay sediments in the water. the Q value of the dissolved oxygen was 110%. i expected this. my action project can help improve the rivers health because the use of hydrogen as a alternative fuel source to oil, gasoline, and coal will reduce harmful emissions and the harmful runoff that is produced my cars that runs into the river and harms the organisms living in it.

nature walk

I didnt learn very much on the nature walk because i already knew alot about nature. one thing that i did learn was the name of a tree called autum olive. some things that i did on the nature walk is walk with my partner and show her some different types of plants like milk weed and queen anns lace. i also taught her how to make leaf rubbings. my partner said that she had fun.
my water chemistry test is dissolved oxygen in the water, this relates to my project which is hydrogen power in a couple of ways. one way is that u can use a process call electrolysis which is sending an electric current through water causing the water molecules to split releasing hydrogen and oxygen. another reason it relates is that when ever temps rise due to global warming the amount of oxygen in the air decreases causing organisms that live in the water to die, and if we stop using fossil fuels and use more hydrogen power this will stop happening.
right now are project is going good we know pretty much exactly what we need to do to complete it we just have to get some supplies such as magnesium and all of the electrical supplies that we need to get to complete the circuit that we have to make to convert DC power into usable AC power.

my role in the project is to find out about converting our combustion motor to run on propane and to get it running and figure out the reaction to use to make hydrogen.

my footprint

www.mycarbonfootprint.org
this site was ok for me but not good for little kids because it asks for information that most kids wouldn't know. my footprint was 8.26.
three ways i can reduce my footprint are unplug charges when not in use, more efficient lightbulbs and ride my bike when i can instead of a car.
three ways that the school can reduce their footprint are use hydrogen generators, use computers instead of paper in classes, and use solar panels as a source on energy.
three ways that the community could reduce their footprint are by uses wind turbines to power businesses, build a hydroelectric plant and more bike lanes to encourage people to ride bikes instead of driving cars.
for my action prject my group and i are going to creat hydrogen using a chemical reaction and use it to power a small engine. this relates to reducing our footprint because hdrogen burns very clean and does not have the harmful effects on the environment that CO2 does. hydrogen can also be used to power many thing suck as cars or heaters or anything that runs on propane gas.

i dont know very much about technology or the internet so there a lot of things that i can learn. one things that i would like to learn is how data is sent in the the internet. i also would like to learn how cell phones can send and receive messages and calls. another thing i want to learn what kind of technologies there are that can help the environment. another thing that i think would be good to know is how the motors in electric cars function.

in global science this year i would like to learn about the oceans and the life in them and how their ecosystems work. i also want to learn about space like the life cycle of a star. i also want to learn about growing crops and the technologies the go along with it. i also think animals are very interesting and fun to learn about so i would like to learn more about them to. another thing i want to do in global science is do many expirements.
